At IPC we have introduced the House System and our students are divided into one of two Houses: House Fortis or House Veritas (Strength and Truth, respectively).
House Captains are elected from the House members and the term of their office is one academic year. After which, a new process of elections takes place. This House Captain may appoint a Co-Captain if he or she desires.
A member of the teaching staff acts as House Regent to ensure things are organized properly and any projects or up-coming competitions their House is preparing for are being worked on diligently.
Throught the year, we have a wide range of activities for the Houses to do and compete in. Points will be earned when houses come out on top. Just a small sampling of this would be debate competition, sports, fund-raising, best GPA (monthly and yearly), on and on.
The House activities and competitions are also student-generated. It's important to give the House members decision-making responsibilities to foster fraternity, equality, and democratic principles.
Over the course of the year, Houses accrue points and these points are converted to rewards. The nature of these awards are something we work out and vote on but will, at a minimum, entail the awarding of trophies to go in their own House trophy cabinets.
Students are selected randomly to get an even distribution of gender and age. All siblings are entitled to be in the same House and any siblings who enter the school at a later date will be in that same House. Students will remain in their designated House for the duration of their stay at the school.
