Our school's Assembly is composed of all staff — students, teachers, admin personnel, and support staff. Everyone has one vote!

In our Assembly meetings, we discuss all issues relating to school life and school improvement (except financial matters, grade boundaries, staff recruitment, and any other issues we feel are not the purvue of students). Issues we will be discussing in the coming school year will include student discipline policy, fund-raising ideas, clubs we will offer along with a whole host of other matters that will come up over the course of the year.

Summer Reading List

We discussed various ideas about how we can track the progress students are making through their reading. Many ideas were discussed and we'll have to return to this at the next Assembly. We also mentioned that on some day during the first week of the regular school year, students will make presentations about their summer reading books. We discussed and noted many different formats for this ranging from PowerPoint to stage plays to videos.

We had a lively discussion in today's meeting about what the consequences should be for students misbehaving.

First, we discussed what constituted misbehavior and identified a number of things.

  • Sleeping in the classroom, eating, bad language, failure to do homework, and being generally disruptive

After that, we discussed what the consequences should be.

Due to time constraints, we narrowed our focus to two items - bad language and failure to do homework. A number of consequences were discussed, and will be discussed further. Subsequently, votes will be taken.

GPA and Houses

We all reviewed our GPA scores after the final exams for the first half of our summer school. It was impressed on the students that their final grade for summer school would determine the Principal's recommendation as to whether or not a student is ready for our IPC program.

After that, we divided our student body into their Houses and the Houses then met separately to elect a Captain and Co-Captain. Visit our House Fortis and House Veritas pages for the outcome.
